Micronized Vanuatu Noble Kava

Micronized noble kava root from Vanuatu — the island nation in the South Pacific that most kava drinkers consider the plant's home. Kava (Piper methysticum) is a slow crop: our root is harvested from plants grown four to five years in volcanic island soil, then washed, split, sun-dried, and milled.

What "micronized" means, and why it costs more: this is not ordinary traditional grind. Micronized kava is ground far finer and the insoluble woody fiber — the makas — is largely removed, which takes extra processing and is exactly why it costs more per kilo than medium grind. What you get for that: no straining. No cloth, no strainer bag, no ten minutes of kneading, no cleanup. Stir it into water and drink it. The finer particle size also releases more from the root than a coarse grind of the same material.

How it differs from instant kava: micronized is still whole root, just very finely milled — it stays suspended in the water rather than fully dissolving, so expect a traditional cloudy shell. Instant kava has already been brewed, strained and dried back down, which is why it dissolves clear and costs more again per gram.

Why Vanuatu, and why "noble": Vanuatu regulates its kava by law. Under the Kava Act of 2002, only certified noble cultivars may be exported — the two-day ("tudei") and wichmannii varieties are prohibited from export. Noble cultivars are the ones Ni-Vanuatu communities selected and cultivated over centuries for daily drinking. So "noble Vanuatu kava" is not marketing language; it is an export standard enforced by Biosecurity Vanuatu.

Sourcing and honesty: kava is a farm product, and cultivar availability shifts with each harvest and shipment. Text us before a large order and we will tell you exactly which cultivar and root grade is in the warehouse that week, and send the current lab work with it.

Why we are not the cheapest kava online: there are really only four ways to make kava cheaper — a lesser cultivar, a lower root grade, a younger plant, or a coarser grind that leaves the makas in. We do none of the four. So if you find kava priced well under this, that is worth knowing rather than worth fearing: ask the seller which cultivar it is, which root grade, how old the plant was, and whether it is micronized or medium grind. A good vendor answers all four. We will, every time, in writing, before you spend a dollar.
