Akuamma Seed Powder (Picralima nitida)

Milled seed of Picralima nitida, a tree native to West and Central Africa — Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon and the surrounding forest belt. Known locally as akuamma. Sourced from Africa and ground to a fine, even powder.

Why powder: the whole seed is hard, dense and genuinely difficult to mill. A domestic grinder will not do it, and most people who buy whole seed end up frustrated. Ours arrives already milled, uniform, and ready to weigh.

On quality: good akuamma powder is pale tan to light brown and uniform, with no dark specks, no clumping and no musty smell. Clumping means moisture got in, and moisture in a milled botanical is how you end up with mould. Ours is packed dry in resealable pouches.
